This car is a dream come true, whether you're a 4x4 fanatic or planning an (Africa) overland trip. The true off road design of this vehicle (extreme high ground clearance, portal axles, low centre of gravity, diff-locks on both axles), makes sure that you'll have to work really, really hard to get it stuck (we never managed to get it stuck anywhere). Originally designed for the German army, everything in the car is over-engineered, and pretty much unbreakable. For an overland trip, the size is perfect: about twice the space of a Landy or Land Cruiser, without all the drawbacks (weight, height, width and cost) of driving a full size truck. It's registered as a 3500 kg vehicle, which means you can drive it on any licence and taxes, tolls etc. are the same as for any other 4x4.

We did an enormous amount of work on the car - both to get it into tip-top shape, and to prepare it for our trip through Africa. Its fully equipped for an overland trip (through Africa, or anywhere else you want it to bring you). Over the past year, we have driven our Mog from the UK down to South Africa . Throughout these 25,000km, we never got stuck, didn't get a single puncture, and the biggest piece of repair work we had to do on it was replacing a V-belt. We really don't want to part with it, but for a car like this it would be a shame to let it waste away in the streets of London .
